We feed our broiler chickens a certified organic &non-GMO grain ration to supplement the nutrition they find foraging on grass and insects in the field.  

Our Cornish Cross Broiler chicks are sourced from Metzer Farms in Gonzalez, CA. We have worked to find a quality hatchery that is also as close to us as possible and are pleased with the hearty and active nature of these chicks.

Our chicks spend up to three weeks in the brooder until they have feathered out enough to go out on pasture in our version of a chicken tractor.  The tractors provide each bird with ample space, access to sunshine and are moved daily to fresh grass. 

Studies have shown that pasture raised protein is significantly higher in nutrients and minerals than commercially raised chicken while also being lower in saturated fats.  You can find more detailed information and published research here.  

We slaughter and process all of our birds ourselves, on the farm, under federal exemption PL 90-492.
